The hotel Zlata ribica is located in the western part of Slovenia, on the left bank of the river Idrijca, in the village Idrija  pri Bači. The village is situated some 8km from Tolmin, the region’s administrative centre, or 3km from Most na Soči, where Idrijca flows into the river Soča.

On the left bank of the river Idrijca slopes of the Šentviška plateau sweep gently down to the village. On the left bank, where the hotel stands, the river has created lowlands and land for pastures and fields. Here, the river rests for awhile, after struggling though steep slopes of the Alpine mountains on one side and the Dinarides on the other. Towards the north and north-east the mountains extend to Julian Alps. The whole region of the Julian Alps is under the protection of the Triglav National Park.

From the direction Ljubljana: 1 hour and 30min, approximately 90km, on a fairly winding, but picturesque road.
From the direction Nova Gorica, Gorizia (Italy): 45min, on a quite winding, but picturesque road.
From the direction Bovec, Predel, Kranjska gora, Villach (Austria): 45min – 2.5 hours on a...... guess what kind of a road? Of course, a winding, but picturesque road.
From the direction Cividale, Udine (Italy): 45min, yes, there are winds here, too.

BY TRAIN
Train station Most na Soči is located 2km from the Zlata ribica hotel. There are regular connection with Nova Gorica, Jesenice, and Ljubljana.

BY AIR
The nearest airports are Brnik (Ljubljana) - 80km and Ronchi (Trieste) - 75km.
